AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL OPERA AWARD CHAIRMAN ANNOUNCES NATHAN LAY AS 2016 AWARD RECIPIENT.

Australian International Opera Award Chairman, William Cowan AM has announced Melba alumnus baritone Nathan Lay as the 2016 recipient of the prestigious award.

Nathan was the 2011 John & Elizabeth Wright-Smith scholarship holder, and has gone on since then to develop a fine career locally in Melbourne, namely as a Developing Artist with Victorian Opera.

The award will see Nathan travel to Wales to study with renowned tenor and highly esteemed voice teacher, Dennis O’Neill at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice. Nathan joins a proud list of awardees, which includes an impressive 3 Melba Opera Trust alumni since 2012 – Siobhan Stagg, Panyaiota Kalatzis & Matthew Reardon.
