ANNOUNCING THE 2016 MELBA OPERA TRUST SCHOLARS

The successful recipients of 2016 scholarships with Melba Opera Trust were announced on Tuesday 2 February 2016.

A mix of returning scholars and new artists to the fold, the 7 young Australians were drawn from a national pool of 50 candidates, and 26 heard by the audition panel comprising of Trust Artistic Advisor and esteemed repetiteur Sharolyn Kimmorley AM, conductor Johannes Frizsch and baritone Peter Coleman-Wright AO.

The 2016 Melba Opera Trust Scholars are:

Zoe Drummond, soprano (NSW)

Timothy Newton, bass (VIC)

Michael Petruccelli, tenor (VIC)

Nicholas Tolputt, countertenor (TAS)
