Alastair Jackson International Opera Award Applications

Thank you for your interest in the Alastair Jackson International Opera Award (AJIOA) for 2027.

Applications open at 9.00am AEST on Monday 10 August 2026.

Applications close at 11.59pm AEST on Monday 31 August 2026.

The Alastair Jackson International Opera Award provides an Australian or New Zealand singer with exceptional operatic potential the opportunity to undertake a two-year Artist Diploma in Opera at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London.

Valued at more than $180,000 AUD, the award covers full tuition, travel and living expenses.

The Artist Diploma is the highest level of taught postgraduate study at the RCM and is designed for singers who have already demonstrated exceptional ability at a Master’s level, or equivalent. Alongside advanced training, the recipient gains valuable performance experience through operatic scenes and opportunities to perform in the RCM’s fully staged productions.

Awarded every two years, the next recipient will commence their studies at the RCM in September 2027. Auditions will be held in Melbourne and London.
