Robert was appointed to Melba Council in 2005 and became chairman in 2006. “I have a fundamental belief that we all need to do whatever we can to assist our talented young people in all forms of art.”
Roz Zalewski has over 20 years’ experience in community law, asylum advocacy and as a barrister. “Opera is a vital part of any civilized society. I can’t imagine life without it.”
Mrs Jenny Sutherland, Director
Jenny Sutherland was appointed to the Council of the Melba Conservatorium in 1986 and is related to Dame Nellie Melba through her grandfather, Charles Mitchell – Melba’s brother.
Ms Fiona Menzies, Director
Fiona is currently the development manager at the Wheeler Centre, where she leads the centre’s fundraising and sponsorship strategies. “I believe everyone can excel given the opportunity, so it is a privilege to contribute to assisting young Australian singers to pursue careers in opera.”
Ms Lorraine Elliott, Director
I am delighted to be involved with the Dame Nellie Melba Opera Trust.It’s program of education, support and mentoring of fine young Australian opera singers as they begin their careers is fulfilling the desire of Dame Nellie Melba when she bequeathed the original gift that it would that it would ensure ‘that a new Melba may arise’. It is an inspiration to have the opportunity to assist, in a small way, Melba’s legacy
Mr Peter Garnick, Company Secretary, Managing Director
Peter’s 30-year career as an executive of performing arts organisations spans orchestras and opera companies in the US and Australia. He took up the role of Director of the Dame Nellie Melba Opera Trust in June 2010.
